Oracle Fusion Middleware Radio - Great Podcast Guys!

I've just finished listening to my first few downloads of "Oracle Fusion Middleware Radio," a podcast produced by the Fusion group within Oracle.

I know what you're thinking.  It is probably some slick marketing vehicle that Oracle pushes out to sell its products.  Well, yes, I'm sure selling products is important to justifying the cost of this podcast, but it is not like that at all, from what I've heard so far.

This podcast is very listenable. I've really enjoyed listening, especially this one on Web 2.0 in the Enterprise. Oracle's VP of Product Management, Vince Casarez, explains his vision of how enterprises will incorporate Web 2.0 features (instant messaging, blogs, RSS feeds, etc.) into their enterprise applications like Siebel and Peoplesoft.  It is really interesting.

There is even a point where the interviewer, a woman from Oracle magazine, tries to lead Vince to hit some talking points about Oracle Fusion, but he doesn't do it!  Amazingly he starts talking about how you need to interconnect ALL your applications, and it is great when you're using a bunch of Oracle apps (Peoplesoft, Siebel, etc.) but it doesn't have to be that, it needs to be interoperable to be true Web 2.0.  That's a great statement from someone at Oracle, which has sometimes been a fairly closed, myopic company until lately.

Let's hope that they can implement Vince's vision.  Anyway, you really need to pay attention to this podcast.  Take a listen here or subscribe through iTunes.

Congratulations to Rick Schultz, VP of Product Marketing, who produces this podcast.  Great job!
